RheinEnergie has plans to enable its enterprise customers in Europe to advance their energy transition and sustainability goals, through a new collaboration with Infosys.

The partnership aims to improve business efficiency, reduce costs, and promote sustainability by utilizing advanced cloud, data, artificial intelligence, and Industry 4.0 solutions.

It will focus on RheinEnergie’s clients in the manufacturing, commercial real estate, and travel and transportation (passengers and freight) sectors. The initiative aims to offer practical suggestions that can boost businesses’ energy efficiency by 30 to 40 percent.

Solutions linking energy markets, grids, renewable generation, storage, and energy-consuming assets will decentralize the energy transition, allowing businesses to select cost-effective low-carbon energy sources, which will be the key focus areas, the companies said in a press release.

Infosys will use Cobalt, a set of platforms, services, and solutions that help businesses speed up their cloud journey, and Infosys Topaz, an AI-first product that makes use of generative AI technologies to enable the business processes.

RheinEnergie’s extensive experience in energy services will assist enterprises in monitoring, controlling, and optimizing their energy landscape to achieve decarbonization objectives.

Stephan Segbers, Chief Sales Officer and Member of the Board, RheinEnergie, said, “RheinEnergie firmly believes that innovative technological and digital solutions are intrinsic to achieving the ‘Energiewende’ and the ‘Wärmewende’, Germany’s planned transition to a low-carbon, nuclear-free economy. … We are excited about joining forces with Infosys and extend this innovative approach to businesses across various sectors. Together, we can accelerate the transition to a clean energy future for a healthier planet.”

“We have been working for many years to position ourselves as a sustainable airport and to shape the mobility of the future. The cooperation with RheinEnergie and Infosys helps us to simplify the complex requirements involved in the sustainable transformation of the energy and supply infrastructure and to achieve our sustainability goals – for travelers, for our environment and for our neighborhood,” said Thilo Schmid, CEO, Cologne/Bonn Airport GmbH.

Ashiss Kumar Dash, Executive Vice President & Global Head – Services, Utilities, Resources, Energy, and Sustainability, Infosys, said, “The energy landscape is undergoing a significant transformation, and to accelerate decarbonization at scale is no longer a choice but an obligation for all businesses. At Infosys, we recognize the urgency of this shift and are committed to helping enterprises across Europe navigate their energy transition journey.”
