Kitchens at the Akshaya Patra Foundation in Uttar Pradesh are set to get a solar power lift.
Renewable energy firm ReNew is set to install solar power plants across existing Akshaya Patra Foundation kitchens and new projects in Gorakhpur, Agra, and Kanpur.
The initiative is a part of ReNew’s national environmental protection campaign. The project, led by the Renew Foundation under Corporate Social Responsibility, aims to significantly cut electricity costs and feed more children.
Each solar installation could save Rs 10-12 lakh annually in electricity costs per kitchen, potentially providing 1.25 lakh additional meals to children every year over the next two decades.
Additionally, ReNew Power will maintain these solar systems for 20 years, ensuring sustained savings and impact.
According to Vaishali Nigam Sinha, Co-Founder, ReNew Power, about Rs 2 crore will be spent to solarize these kitchens, with completion anticipated two months after construction begins.
She underscored the company’s dedication to using its knowledge of renewable energy to improve communities and have a significant, long-lasting impact.
ReNew Power, a leading renewable energy company in India, has an impressive portfolio exceeding 15 GW of renewable projects, including wind, solar, and emerging technologies like hybrid projects and green hydrogen.
