Waaree Energies, India’s largest solar PV module manufacturer and a global leader in clean energy solutions, has achieved the EcoVadis Gold Medal for ESG excellence.

The Mumbai-headquartered company becomes the only Indian solar PV manufacturer to receive this distinction. With 97 percentile, Waaree Energies joins the top 5% of companies worldwide assessed for their environmental, social, and ethical business practices.

EcoVadis certification benefits businesses by enhancing global reputation, strengthening ESG partnerships, opening new market opportunities, and aiding in risk mitigation by identifying environmental, social, and governance vulnerabilities, Waaree Energies said in a press release.

Moreover, the adoption of sustainable practices optimizes resource management, reduces waste, and unlocks long-term cost efficiencies, contributing to both environmental stewardship and financial performance.

Dr. Amit Paithankar, Whole-time Director & CEO, Waaree Energies Ltd., said, “It’s an important milestone in the journey to a sustainable future. Being the first Indian solar PV manufacturer to receive this honor reflects our deep-rooted commitment to embedding sustainability at the heart of everything we do, from the products we create to the partnerships we nurture. While placing us among the global ESG elites, this sets a new precedent for India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem. This achievement strengthens our position as a trusted global partner and a torchbearer of responsible solar manufacturing for the world.”

Waaree Energies’ ESG journey is underpinned by its pledge to decarbonize the solar value chain—from sourcing to manufacturing to installation. Notably, the company recently earned Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification for its low-carbon solar modules as well. This accolade serves as a blueprint for the entire industry, proving that Make in India can compete with the best in the world, not just on scale but on sustainability standards.
