Waaree Energies has established a 5.4 GW solar cell gigafactory facility in Gujarat.
Waaree’s Chikhli facility utilizes high-efficiency solar cell technology, promoting research-driven innovation and sustainability, aligning with India’s decarbonization goals for a cleaner, greener, and self-reliant energy future.
The facility is spread across 150 acres, with a built-up area of 101 acres. It will provide 9,500 direct jobs and around 30,000 indirect employment opportunities, significantly contributing to local economic development.
Hitesh Doshi, Chairman & Managing Director, Waaree Energies Ltd., stated, “Today, with the launch of our 5.4 GW solar cell gigafactory in Chikhli, Waaree is laying the foundational cornerstone of India’s energy independence and technological renaissance. This is our national manifesto, etched in solar cells: a blueprint that will rewrite our economic trajectory, disrupt global technological paradigms, and elevate India from a passive consumer to the vanguard of the global clean energy revolution.”
Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat; Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi; C. R. Paatil, Minister of Jal Shakti; senior ministers from Gujarat including Kanubhai Desai, Minister of Finance, Energy & Petrochemicals; Balvantsinh Rajput, Minister of Industries, Civil Aviation, Labor & Employment; Harshbhai Sanghavi, Minister of State for Home, Sports & Youth; Mukeshbhai Patel, Minister of State for Environment, Climate Change & Water Resources; and P. P. Chaudhary, Member of Parliament and Chairperson of One Nation One Election, attended the inauguration ceremony.
